Sober Living – Phase 2

An Independent, Structured Environment

In addition to our Phase 1 sober living, Providence Retreat also offers an extended sober living recovery option for men who have already incorporated a solid recovery program into their daily lives. Our program is designed as a step down option for men transitioning from a highly structured sober living environment to independent living.

Sober living requires residents to be self-driven in their recovery, while offering an additional layer of accountability. It also gives residents an opportunity to interact with those engaged in earlier stages of treatment. The goal is to show that recovery is possible, to give hope to someone who is just beginning their journey to sobriety. We believe that service to others is a vital part of maintaining sobriety. What better way to serve others than by showing them the right path?

In order to qualify for this program, you must have experience in a highly structured sober-living environment. The expectation is that you are currently practicing the 12 steps in your daily life. This includes (but is not limited to): having a sponsor; regular attendance and participation in a homegroup; a willingness to carry the message of recovery to others (i.e. sponsorship); and practicing the principles in all you do.

Residents are required to provide their own transportation, as full-time employment is expected.

Providence Retreat is located in beautiful Hollis, Maine, just 25 minutes from Portland and 15 minutes from the Biddeford-Saco area.
